It certainly has reached high temperatures these past few days, and the indications are that August will be more of the same. NYC offers something for everyone to enjoy, and the city is busy with special events and activities that the entire family will love! Whether you are visiting the city or are a native New Yorker, you'll need to get out your planner so that you can write down and choose which of the large variety of events will most interest you.
NYC is probably the most colorful place one could ever live in or visit. The United Nations contains representatives from every nation in the world! represented in the city, making it a melting pot of cultures resulting in events and activities targeting every mix of society. Therefore, if there's something special that you are looking for, you are likely to find it in NYC. Even better, a few of the best New York City events will cost you nothing this summer. Visitors and residents can attend free outdoor events, such as films, dance workshops, concerts and art shows at Bryant Park, Central Park, Prospect Park and Manhattan.
Personally, I have my own must-see list of New York City happenings that cannot be missed this summer. The first of the top five is to see Rent on Broadway in Bryant Park. Listen to the characters sing about living in the East Village. Number two on the list is Rooftop Films, an even more unique spin on films screened outdoors. There are an assortment of venues in Brooklyn where these can be found. Central Park SummerStage, every Sunday throughout summer, see some of the hottest acts going around. You can catch the New York Philharmonic during the summer, as they fill the entire city with glorious music, making a summer appearance in each borough. Are you a sports fan? If so, you'll love number five on my list, as the US Open of Tennis comes to town for two weeks filled with drama and excitement.
